Why do you have a two-stage application process?
We receive many more applications than we can fund. The two stage process allows us to filter projects we are more likely to support and prevents you from spending time completing an application form for a project we would not fund.
Is there a maximum or minimum level of funding?
No, there is not. However, if you are able to accept part-funding, then please specify this.
Am I able to apply for funding on a project running over 1 year?
Yes we understand projects vary in length and will fund any length of project up to a maximum of 3 years.
Do you fund projects that will run overseas even if the organisation is based in the UK?
Yes we welcome applications from organisations within the UK that are running projects outside of their main location.
Do you fund projects with organisations that are based outside of the UK?
Yes we welcome applications from organisations outside of the UK.
Do you fund staffing costs within a project?
Yes we do fund staffing costs within a project but will not fund a project solely for staffing costs.
Do you fund website build costs?
No we do not offer funding for website build costs.
Do you fund hardware costs within a project?
Yes we do fund partial hardware costs but will not consider an application made solely for hardware costs.
Can you save a partially completed application and come back to it at a later time?
The initial eligibility form has to be completed in full before it is submitted, however the main grant application will be saved automatically as you progress through it.
If my application is rejected, will you tell me why?
We do not provide feedback on rejected applications. We are a very small team and need to focus our resources on the projects that we do fund.
Can I appeal if my application is rejected?
No, we do not offer an appeals process as our decisions are final.
What happens after the full application form is submitted?
Your grant application will be considered by our Board of Trustees. They meet quarterly, and you will hear from us in the month following the relevant meeting. See here for Board of Trustee meeting dates. Under certain circumstances you may be invited to visit us to present your project. We suggest that you submit your completed application at least two weeks prior to the deadline date for each quarter to ensure that it is assessed in that quarter. Otherwise, we may have to carry your application over to the next quarter for assessment.
If my grant application is successful, how quickly until I can receive the funds?
If your application is successful we will require you to submit a final agreed project plan and to sign the trade mark license before payment is made. Once this is signed and returned, funds will be allocated at a mutually agreed time.
What is the Nominet Trust Knowledge Centre?
This is a searchable database containing project evaluation forms designed for the benefit of people planning similar projects. Our intention is to improve project design, reduce duplication and facilitate networking by making information that is usually locked away, available to those who would benefit from it. You can find our evaluation form here.
