From playing games to creating games with Bafta's Young Games Designers competition

For the third consecutive year, Nominet Trust is proud to be supporting the 2017 BAFTA Young Game Designers (YGD) initiative as headline partner, working with BAFTA to develop additional schools-focussed activity addressing the under-representation of women in the games workforce.

The BAFTA Young Game Designers competition is a gaming initiative for 10-18 year olds. It aims to help young people turn their gaming idea into a reality.

Young people are crucial to the future success of the UK’s thriving creative industries. It is vital that we nurture their digital creativity and give them a broad range of experiences that will develop their understanding, skills and networks.This initiative offers a valuable opportunity to show them the links between a variety of digital making skills and future employability.

Throughout the year, YGD will run workshops up and down the country with some of the top gaming professionals, allowing young people to find out more about the gaming industry and the possible options open to them.
