DIGITALLY SORTED AT PENRICE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Over the next few months Penrice pupils will be taking part in a series of workshops and training activities exploring the use of innovative technologies relevant to their needs. This project has been made possible by Nominet Trust which invests in internet-based projects that contribute to a safe, accessible online world, used to improve lives and communities.

Over the course of the project Ambassadors and role models from the business community will be providing ‘real world’ information on current and future business use of new technologies, promoting good practice as well as working with the pupils to produce digital resources. Companies involved include:- Redfuse Internet, Yan-Tan-Tether, Leap, Kernow Pods, Jarrang, Firetext Communications at Superfast Cornwall.

“Digitally Sorted is a programme which seeks to equip young people aged 12-15 years with the skills they need to survive in, and make a positive contribution to, an increasingly digital world,” said Kate Whetter, Education Projects Manager at Cornwall Education Business Partnership, who is co-ordinating the project.

“We are delighted to have the support from Nominet Trust and the local business community to make this project possible.”
