The Nominet Trust £250k Challenge

The Nominet Trust £250k Challenge support projects that address the recommendations set out in our second State of the Art Review: ‘The internet and an ageing population’, written by Prof Christine Milligan and Dr Don Passey.

In particular, we're looking to invest in projects that work with older people (65+) to: use the internet to address specific social problems facing older people; design new and better ways for older people to access and use the internet; and develop and use technologies familiar to older people that may have internet functionality such as projects that use IPTV or internet radio.

Geraldine Bedell, editor of Gransnet tells us why they are supporting this challenge:

"As the fastest-growing group of digital and social media users, older people can build on their own online experience to provide better services to people of their own age. An understanding and experience of the unique needs of older people means that the Gransnet generation are ideally placed to develop relevant services and technologies"

Do you have a project that meets this challenge?

Initially you need to submit your project outline via our Stage 1 application form, if you are shortlisted we will invite you to complete a full application that outlines why your project should benefit from a share of the £250k on offer. The minimum level of funding is £1,000 and projects seeking up to £250k will be considered.

The key is that your project meets Nominet Trust’s general funding criteria and addresses the recommendations set out in ‘The internet and an ageing population’ State of Art review.

All applicants, must demonstrate evidence that are working closely with older people to develop solutions that meet their needs. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from social entrepreneurs who are in this growing demographic group.

The deadline for first stage applications is 1st February 2012. Those shortlisted must submit their full applications by 1st March 2012.

writing an interest application

I have found this difficult before because of the diversity of our project. This latest 250k challenge after reading " State Of The Art Review" i have identified so many things that we deal with and work with all the time.
