Nominet Trust welcomes new Chair to the Board

11 October 2016, Oxford – Nominet Trust, the UK’s leading dedicated Tech for Good funder, has appointed Natalie Campbell as its new Chair. As the corporate foundation of Nominet, an international internet company delivering public benefit, Nominet Trust has invested £25m into projects and partnerships that use the internet and digital technologies to change the world for the better.

Natalie has been a career-long champion of the idea that entrepreneurship drives social mobility and is the founder of A Very Good Company - a social innovation agency that works with businesses such as Marks and Spencer and Virgin Media to deliver social impact around the world. Natalie is also a board member of the Big Lottery Fund and was previously on the board of Wayra UnLtd - the Tech for Good accelerator backed by O2 Telefonica and the Cabinet Office.

Natalie said, “I am delighted to be joining Nominet Trust at such an exciting time for both the organisation and the wider tech for good ecosystem. Technology has long been a central part of how I, and the organisations I work with, reach more people than ever before and give them the power to engage with society, improve their lives and connect with the world. This role is the perfect blend of what I know and believe and as Chair, I look forward to building on the legacy of the Trust over the next few years.”

Commenting on the appointment, Baroness Rennie Fritchie DBE, Chair of Nominet, said, “With Natalie's passion for tech for good, we are delighted that she is joining the Nominet Trust. The Internet has transformed our lives, but we want everyone to reap the benefits.  I am looking forward to working together to identify and support the ideas and initiatives that will make a real difference to those who might otherwise be left behind.”

Natalie succeeds the current Chair of Nominet Trust, Dr Clive Grace OBE, who will step down at the end of October when his term of appointment concludes. During Clive’s time with the Trust, he has been instrumental in developing a robust platform of strategy, governance, capacity and capability to maintain and strengthen the Trust’s leading role in the tech for good space. Baroness Fritchie said: “On behalf of the Nominet Board, I would like to express our gratitude for Clive's contribution and commitment over the years."

Dr Clive Grace OBE, said, "I am very pleased to welcome Natalie to the role, and hand on the baton.  She will lead a committed Board and have the support of a great executive team in taking the Trust forward to even higher achievements."

Natalie’s appointment comes as Nominet, a public benefit company with 20 years’ experience in running the .UK internet infrastructure, confirms a £5.4 million charitable donation to Nominet Trust.  This brings the total that Nominet has donated to Nominet Trust to over £44 million.

Natalie will begin her new role on 1st November.
