How can my organisation apply for funding?

If you think you have a project that Nominet Trust would be interested in funding, then you can apply using our online application process. We have a two-stage application process. Stage 1 allows you to describe the key features of your project and what you hope to achieve via a relatively short and straightforward online form.

We aim to review all Stage 1 forms within two weeks' of receipt. The projects we feel align closely with our aims and objectives will be shortlisted and invited to complete the Stage 2 form - also online.

Getting the world’s first smartphone for the blind into the hands of those who need it.

Transformational technology
Georgie is an award-winning smartphone for the blind and visually impaired. Having funded its initial development, Nominet Trust is now providing additional support to extend the reach and uptake of the new product. The technology was created by social enterprise Screenreader. It will now receive funding to help the delivery of a series of online instructional resources and local training courses.

YouthNet addressing the Hidden Homeless

YouthNet is using digital technology to help expert support organisations reach out to the UK’s most vulnerable homeless young people.

‘Hidden homeless’
Every year, 80,000 young people in the UK experience homelessness. But there are many more ‘hidden homeless’ individuals, who don’t recognise themselves as vulnerable because they ‘sofa surf’ or stay in hostels. These young people are particularly hard to reach out to.

Creating a new generation of citizen scientists

Genuine scientific studies
What does it take to inspire a new generation of scientists? The Open University nQuire project is aiming to do just that by inviting young people to take part in real-life scientific practice via an online open science laboratory.

This collaborative inquiry project, launched with support from Nominet Trust, will use digital technology to build open tools to encourage young people to engage with the big science problems of today, both in and out of school.

Social investor Nominet Trust today announced the approval of funding for eleven ambitious technology ventures that demonstrate the potential to achieve significant social change. The investment, which totals over £1million, is a testament of the Trust’s continued commitment to championing digital technology for social good.

All of the projects which are to be awarded funding have a bold vision and a deep understanding of how technology can be used to address social challenges, such as youth unemployment or social care provision.

Why digital inclusion is important for care home residents

There are 7.4 million people in the UK who have never used the internet of which 5.2million are aged over 65. There are over 18,000 care homes in England with nearly 40,000 older residents. We do not currently have an accurate figure about how many care home residents have access to the internet.
