Local hero benefits from campaign on internet access for all

News of a 'local hero' from one of the partners in our accessibility awareness campaign, Go ON Gold.Amy Crouch of Westminster City Council Library Service wrote in to tell us about Bob Rawlinson, who has lived in St John's Wood for over 50 years. He visits the library regularly but until this month had never explored the lower ground floor which was originally a store room but was refurbished and opened to the public in August 2008. more >

Never too old to learn

Our project Signs2English aims to help deaf sign language users from different countries to read and write English - the main language of the internet and essential to join the digital age. The course is designed for e-learning with all the instruction provided in video clips by a teacher using the national sign language of the learners country. It is a course for first steps in literacy for those who never had the chance to learn English.

A pipeline of prospects is being built; interest from local authorities, housing associations, charities and health and social care organisations. Conversion is another matter considering the climate. There is competition - Rally Round, Caucus, Jointly, Know your own Health, etc. - however; Tyze's end-user focus has a more B2C look ‘n’ feel and the responsive, user-led developments should keep it one step ahead. more >
