The 'Connect' projects helps older carers

GRCC has been successfully running the Connect project since April 2011 with funding from the Nominet Trust. The aim of the project is to help anyone over the age of 55 and living in Gloucestershire to use a computer and get ‘online.’ Connect aims to help people, especially those living in the more rural areas of the county at whatever their level of ability and experience, to become more confident in using a computer and the internet.

In today's special Valentine's themed guided reminiscence session, John requested ‘The Last Waltz’ and everybody sang with him with such enthusiasm. Afterwards I asked why he’d chosen that song and he told me that it was the first dance he’d had with his wife when he first met her at a tea dance at the Bournemouth Pavilion in 1943. Connect - helping older people to get online

The Connect project has been running at GRCC in Gloucestershire since April 2011. The aim of the project is to get people 55 years or older online. So far we have helped over 350 people with a team of volunteers who have visited people at thier homes or in community buildings during group sessions. more >

Our widget is live

The Transition Project Sharing Engine project is an experiment to see whether we can:

Produce a widget for webmasters to put on their own Transition Initiative websites
See whether community groups will moderate content that is shared by a wider movement
Build a growing community of webmasters in a movement to support eachother

It is going well.
