A digital celebration for Digitally Sorted

On: 11th July 2012
The Digitally Sorted project equips young people aged 12-15 with the skills they need to survive in, and make a positive contribution to, an increasingly digital world.  Students at Penrice Academy and Bodmin College have taken part in a series of workshops and training activities exploiting the use of innovative technologies relevant to young people’s needs.

Students at the two schools recently hosted a celebratory webinar to showcase their work on the digitally sorted project.  Thank you to year 9 student at Penrice Community College, Chloe Cannon and her friends for this guest blog:

“Digitally Sorted has been a really good experience for everyone, learning about our digital footprint and how to keep our online profiles safe.”

Here is what Olly Worten said about the project “I think that Digitally Sorted has been a great learning experience, many of the things we did were interesting, my favourite part was visiting the Pool Innovation Centre because it was fun and the whole gang enjoyed it. I recommend this project to people because it was a good experience.”

Jess Trahair says –“It was informative and taught us how to use different technology- like making a podcast”.  Some of the other things we did was to have professor Andy Phippen, Professor of Social Responsibility in IT Plymouth University, come and talk to us about how to keep safe online and what consequences could resort from being irresponsible online.  To sum up the whole project we had a webinar in which Bodmin College and other guests also took part. “

Thank you to the Digitally Sorted team and the students at Penrice Academy and Bodmin College for inviting us to your fantastic webinar to see what you’ve learnt.

Digitally sorted is funded by Nominet Trust and throughout the project ambassadors and role models from the business community have provided  ‘real world’ information on current and future business use of new technologies.
