The Big Society Broadband project

Independent Networks Co-operative Association

The era of ‘super-fast’ broadband is upon us, but with only two thirds of UK homes likely to be able to receive it, where will that leave ‘the final third’?

The challenge we face is getting next generation services into all of our communities. The Big Society Broadband project has been bringing together a range of partners from the public, private and third sectors to ensure all UK homes and businesses are able to access and benefit from super-fast broadband.

With support from Nominet Trust, this project has been helping local social entrepreneurs to educate, build awareness and develop innovative projects in their communities, spreading superfast broadband services as quickly and extensively as possible. The project acts as a hub for expertise and a source of practical expert help and guidance.

By engaging all sections of their communities to facilitate awareness and drive demand for next generation networks, the Big Society Broadband project aims to speed up the roll out of next generation broadband for all.
