Giving patients more control

Only 10.8% of brain cancer patients signed up for a clinical trial in 2010/11 and only 1.1% of those were for randomized clinical trials.  This is, in part, due to the lack of clinical trials in brain cancer.  If more funding was available for researching this disease then the picture would be very different because more trials would equal more patients and therefore more results.  

So the charity brainstrust has developed The Brain Tumour Hub. The Hub aims to help brain tumour patients and carers to search for the best brain tumour support and advice, quickly and easily.

With this project, brainstrust want to help empower patients, their families and carers to fight this devastating disease. The Hub will be simple to use and through filtering their results, users will be able to create their own personalised support and treatment services contact list.

Our investment will support the development of the Brain Tumour Hub. When complete, it will be the only authoritative national database of brain tumour support services, treatment avenues and clinical trials available to brain tumour patients.

By giving patients more visibility of what trials are taking place brainstrust hope that this will lead to more awareness of the need for research and in turn more funding.
