Helping stalking survivors get justice

media co-op logo
Stalking is a crime that can destroy lives. And although research shows that over 18% of women and 8% of men have been stalked, many don’t report it to the police.

One of the biggest barriers to getting justice is logging the right evidence. Police need a record of incidents that can be hard to pull together in one place. media co-op is developing a smartphone app to help tackle this.

“Had this app been available when I was the victim of a stalker it would have made all the difference.” Stalking survivor

The technology is being created to meet the demands of both stalking survivors and the criminal justice system. It uses smartphone technology to prompt users for the information prosecutors need, storing it on a secure server so police don’t have to seize the handset as evidence.

With a prosecution-focused approach that puts users in control, this new app will empower stalking survivors. Nominet Trust is supporting media co-op to take this ambitious idea to the next level and put smarter evidence logging in the palm of users’ hands.
