Life stories in a virtual box

Older people can capture their life stories and develop them into artworks

Aune Head Arts will build on their work with older people in Devon, including those with dementia, to capture their life stories and develop them into artworks (sound and visual based) for community radio and internet distribution.

These artworks, called 'Life Story Boxes', will grow out of workshops in memory cafes, led by professional artist, Kate Green. The resulting boxes will represent an individual's personal history and could include objects, sound, photographs and even video.

Each box will be photographed and re-interpreted to create interactive artworks. Families, friends and the wider public can then experience the 'Life Story Boxes' through a specially designed website.

With funding from Nominet Trust, Life Story Boxes aims to value the stories and experiences of older people, and help them tell stories which would otherwise remain unheard.
