Looking to the future

A new web-based programme seeks to engage with vulnerable and marginalised young people.

Addressing the issues that affect young people’s lives
Through the creation of a web-based programme this inspiring project provides an innovative, interactive and relevant means of engaging young people by raising topics and issues that are consistently present in their lives.  As a result, the literacy skills of marginalised and disaffected young people, will improve and they will be more likely to re-engage in learning.

A personal approach
The target group are predominantly of vulnerable 12-16 year olds, who have little or no current reading and writing ability.  In addition to producing age and ability relevant interactive story material for them, the programme will also link to information packs and online support materials for teachers, mentors, youth workers, parents and others to utilise with young people in this situation.

The programme will respond to the individual learning needs and styles of young people utilising age and interest appropriate stories via visual, auditory and kinaesthetic approaches.
